As Offseason Continues, Raiders Begin to Peek into the Future

The moves the Raiders' front office has shown this offseason precision and an awareness of where the roster currently stands that has not always been on display under previous regimes. This, and plenty of money to spend, has helped them improve significantly, with more help on the way.

There is not much more Las Vegas' front office can do to improve in free agency this offseason. However, they have already improved enough via free agency. Their attention is now on the NFL Draft, where they will add quarterback Fernando Mendoza and nine additional picks.

Based on their moves in free agency, it is fair to believe the Raiders' front office will do all they can to improve through the draft, as they did in free agency, albeit with young, unproven talent rather than veteran additions. Once the Raiders get past the draft, the next critical step will commence.

This offseason's Organized Team Activities will bring newfound excitement to the Raiders, as their moves warrant genuine hope for improved results in 2026 and beyond. Las Vegas' front office has taken a hard look at what they need to fix on a bad roster overall.

The Raiders' new-look roster will face many questions as they enter offseason workouts. Many starting positions on the Raiders' roster are all but figured out, but there will be several position battles in Las Vegas, most notably at offensive guard between Spencer Burford and Caleb Rogers.

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak recently explained how the league's rules on dedicated practice time affect every team. Teams have much less wiggle room than they used to, yet Kubiak remains eager for what is to come.

“I think, obviously you don't get as much practice time as you used to get. The OTAs are different than they were 15 years ago, there's less time. And it feels like with every day that goes by, they're trying to take even more from you there. The development is tough, so you got to be really intentional with your time,” Kubiak said at the NFL Owners' Meetings.  

“You got to know probably who's going to play for you, because you're not having as many position battles, because there's only so many reps to go around. The most obvious thing is that the minute that guy gets on the field, all eyes are on them, and all of the success that you hope for them to have, you put on their coaching staff, and you try to put them in a great position to be successful.”
