Ashton Jeanty delivers brutally honest take on Raiders culture

A season that was already on the brink for the Las Vegas Raiders hit total freefall on Sunday, thanks to a 31-0 obliteration at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Everything that could have gone wrong not only did for the Raiders, but did so in borderline hilarious fashion. The Raiders ran only 30 plays on offense, only managing three first downs and mustering only 95 yards of total offense. Despite being without Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers, the Raiders falling apart the way they did has to be considered unacceptable by all measures.

When the voice of concern comes from a rookie, that should be the sign of a problem for all parties involved.

The Raiders’ attempt to change the culture of their team simply has not worked.

After the game, a clearly disappointed Ashton Jeanty was candid about what went into the humiliating defeat.

“I don’t work as hard as I do, and I don’t think anybody else in this building does, to lose like that. So, if we’re being honest, it’s been a losing culture around here for a long time. But we have to continue to work to fix that and bring winning back here,” Jeanty said, per Raiders beat writer Paul Gutierrez.

Jeanty suffered in part of the general offensive woes, only touching the ball seven times for 34 total yards.

For the Raiders, though, this season has been nothing short of a disappointment. The major acquisitions of head coach Pete Carroll and quarterback Geno Smith were supposed to at least raise the floor of the team, but they have actually looked worse than last year’s unit at some points this season. The Raiders will almost certainly finish the year with their eighth losing season in the last 10, and the offseason will come with more questions than answers.

Some might think Jeanty’s honesty is a little too brutal, but it is hard to not feel as though he is not at least somewhat justified in his take.
