The Las Vegas Raiders are entering their first season under legendary coach Pete Carroll, headlined on offense by new quarterback Geno Smith. Returning star tight end Brock Bowers will anchor the offense alongside rookie running back Ashton Jeanty, who was drafted No. 6 overall after a historic collegiate career at Boise State.
Jeanty was a Heisman finalist, rushing 374 times for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns, while adding 23 receptions for 138 yards and one receiving touchdown.
Following a preseason in which he saw limited action, Jeanty’s rookie season is among the most anticipated of any player in the 2024 draft class, with fans expecting big things from the 21-year-old.
According to Fox Sports: NFL, Jeanty was voted the 2025 Preseason Offensive Rookie of the Year by NFL on Fox fans, edging out notable contenders Cam Ward and Travis Hunter.

Ashton Jeanty, much like during his days at Boise State, is expected to carry a heavy workload for the Raiders, as the offense remains a work in progress outside of him and Brock Bowers.
At wide receiver, the Raiders currently feature Jakobi Meyers—who requested a trade on Monday—Amari Cooper, whose deal was recently finalized, and likely contributors Tre Tucker and rookies Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton Jr., all competing for playing time.
If the Raiders hope to surprise in Pete Carroll’s first year, Jeanty will likely be at the center of the offense, and the former Super Bowl-winning coach praised his rare talents.
"If you watch him [Ashton Jeanty] enough, there is something about his style that is reminiscent of some other great backs," Carroll said. "He can use the force of the tackler, and he goes with the force, and he glances and bounces like Emitt, like Marshawn, off of things. As opposed to banging into them. He got that, I think, and watched everything, as much as I could, because I was trying to determine if he had the special."
