The Atlanta Falcons need to add a third quarterback at some point this offseason since both Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix Jr. carry extensive injury histories. Tua has four documented concussions, including three in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, and Penix Jr. is recovering from a partially torn left ACL and has previously sustained two right ACL tears while playing college football for the Indiana Hoosiers. On top of that, Easton Stick remains unsigned.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Falcons have signed right-handed quarterback Trevor Siemian to a contract. He brings experience with 33 starts, 7,000 passing yards, and 44 touchdown passes over his first 11 years in the NFL. The last regular-season game Siemian played in was in 2023, but he has not been out of the league completely since then. He will compete for the QB3 job and could play in 2026 if both Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix Jr. sit out due to injuries.

The New York Jets signed Trevor Siemian to the practice squad in late September 2023 and later promoted him to the active roster in late November. He appeared in five games and started the final three, completing 56.2% of his passes for 724 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions across 153 attempts, resulting in a 2-4 record.
The Tennessee Titans signed Trevor Siemian to the practice squad in early October 2024. He was elevated to the gameday roster three times but did not appear in any of those games, while spending the majority of the time on the practice squad. The Titans re-signed Siemian in August 2025 but released him during roster cuts. He later joined the practice squad, where he spent the entire 2025 season.
