The ongoing standoff between the U.S. House Oversight Committee and embattled Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder isn't ending or getting any less messy.
Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney accepted Snyder's offer on Tuesday to testify on July 28 via videoconference, ESPN's John Keim and Tisha Thompson reported, but Snyder's lawyer is now saying he will not testify if the committee continues to try to subpoena him.
House Oversight Comm accepts Dan Snyder’s “offer” to testify July 28 but on ITS terms—not his. That means: He’d testify under subpoena (under oath); can’t choose which Questions he’d answer; can’t cite existing NDAs as reason to refuse Questions.

(He has til noon Wed to confirm)
The subpoena was already issued but was not delivered to Snyder since he is holding up on a yacht overseas, and his lawyer, Karen Patton Seymour, has refused to take it for him.
The committee maintains that a subpoena helps to ensure Snyder won't withhold information when he testifies. Seymour has called the committee's reason for the subpoena "baseless."
Dan Snyder's side has responded to the Oversight Committee.

"There is no valid basis to issue a subpoena for Mr. Snyder’s testimony. We intend that he will testify voluntarily on July 28, as he has long agreed and looks forward to the opportunity to do"
In addition to saying Snyder won't testify under subpoena, Seymour also requested two dates on which Snyder could "voluntarily" testify, and chose July 28 and 29 — the last two days before the committee goes on recess in August.
Seymour also maintains that her client has done everything in his power to be available to testify and that he "has been fully committed to cooperating in the committee's investigation." Snyder did not testify in June as previously requested because he claimed to have a previous engagement he couldn't get out of. He was attending an awards ceremony in France at that time.
