The first bit of Dallas Cowboys contract news out of training camp in Oxnard was a welcome sight to most, but it didn't involve a player most (if any) were anticipating.
Dallas signed rising star tight end Jake Ferguson to a four-year, $52 million ($13 mil APY) contract extension in his first offseason of eligibility.
This proactivity has not always been the forte of the Joneses regarding high-profile contracts, but this deal with for starting contributor was a good enough agreement to get the wheels turning on the momentum toward larger deals upcoming.
One of those, of course, is the mega extension for defensive end Micah Parsons - one CowboysCountry.com has reported to be nearing record territory in the $40 million+ APY range.
Parsons is serving a "modern hold-in" as he cites back tightness for his excuse not to participate in training camp practice in Oxnard amid his negotiations.
However, the inactivity hasn't turned him away from supporting his teammates, on and off the grass.
On the practice field, Parsons is a lively figure, regularly encouraging teammates, discussing schemes during 11-on-11 drills, and sometimes vibing out to music played over the loud speakers.
On social media, where Parsons is always active, he offered a fun reaction to his teammate's new pay day by reposting the news and sharing a poignant message.
"Baby lion," Parsons wrote on his Instagram story with a series of emojis.

Micah has been urged to take a step up in leadership with the club this season, as he becomes one of the vocal points on the defensive line (more than he already was) after the departure of long-time pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence.
According to this interaction with "Big Biscuit", the "Lion-backer" has been strengthening a bond with his teammates and remained in good spirits throughout his extended contract saga.
Now Cowboys Nation is hoping the real "lion" can feast next.
