'Back at it' — Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes kicks off annual offseason throwing sessions with nearly a dozen teammates

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has declared he's officially back at it.

Texas throwing sessions for the star quarterback will begin in April every year. It has become somewhat of an annual tradition for No. 15 to get his offseason started early with his teammates while he's away from Kansas City. With 13 days to go until the Chiefs have the first day of their offseason workout program, Mahomes is already back in action, throwing with his teammates to get their chemistry right for the upcoming season.

Mahomes posted a clip of himself on Instagram to announce to the world that he's back at it.

His "back at it" caption with the clock emoji should read like Shang Tsung's "It Has Begun!" in the 1995 iteration of "Mortal Kombat." No. 15 is surely out for blood after the disappointing end to the 2024 NFL season in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles.

While not explicitly stated, Mahomes and company are presumably in Texas.

In the brief clip Mahomes shared to his Instagram, you can see his private QB coach, Jeff Christensen, close behind him. Mahomes is seen throwing a pass to second-year Chiefs TE Robert Tonyan.

Preston Smith, one of the regular photo and video gurus capturing Mahomes' offseason workouts, shared a larger cut-up of throws on his Instagram page. This video features Kenny Loggins's "Playing with the Boys" from the Top Gun soundtrack. It shows a larger crew, including quarterbacks Gardner Minshew, Bailey Zappe, and Chris Oladokun. Jared Wiley, Noah Gray, Hollywood Brown, Skyy Moore, Nikko Remigio, and Justyn Ross are the pass catchers in attendance.

Wiley's presence is undoubtedly promising, given that he suffered an ACL injury during practice in early November. That should bode well for his rehab and recovery for 2025.

As for the other guys in attendance, this experience is an opportunity to bond with your teammates and develop timing and chemistry that will be the foundation for quarterbacks and pass-catchers during the 2025 NFL season.
