Mayfield talked extensively with the media ahead of practice on Wednesday, saying he is taking his shoulder injury "day by day" and that, despite the severity of the injury, he never considered being shut down for the remainder of the season.
“No," Mayfield quickly said of being out for the rest of the campaign. "People talk on the outside. They don’t know how I feel nor do they decide whether I can go or not.”

Mayfield sustained a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder in Week 2 against the Houston Texans but played through the injury. He aggravated it and suffered a fracture in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals.
The fourth-year QB said he could have played in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos, but that getting some extra rest time in has been beneficial.
"A noticeable difference in range of motion and strength," Mayfield Wednesday, via Jake Trotter of ESPN. "Trying to get that strength back and be able to go as close to a 100 percent as possible..."
Both Mayfield and backup QB Case Keenum will get starting reps during Browns practice on Wednesday. Keenum started last week's game against the Broncos, which the Browns won 17-14.
