Baltimore Ravens Announce Concerning Zay Flowers Injury Update

The Baltimore Ravens are gearing up for their wild card clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and all eyes are on star wide receiver Zay Flowers after he suffered a knee injury in their Week 18 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Unfortunately, the latest update on his status isn't particularly encouraging.

Flowers took a step forward in 2024 with the Ravens, as he hauled in 74 receptions for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns, which earned him the first Pro Bowl selection of his young career. However, he was forced out of their regular season finale against the Browns early with a knee injury that threw his status for the playoffs in doubt.

Head coach John Harbaugh has labeled Flowers as "day-to-day," but there doesn't seem to be much optimism surrounding his ability to play in the wild card round against the Steelers. Unsurprisingly, Flowers did not practice on Tuesday, indicating that he is on track to miss Baltimore's upcoming postseason clash.

Being without Flowers, even if just for one game, would be crushing for Baltimore. Flowers has been Lamar Jackson's go-to guy in the passing game, and they would be very shorthanded at wide receiver if he ends up being unable to go. He still has a couple days to get himself ready for this one, but the early returns aren't encouraging.

If Flowers can't play, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor would be Baltimore's top two wide receivers against Pittsburgh, and they aren't exactly a duo worth worrying about. Of course, Jackson has Derrick Henry, Mark Andrews, and Isaiah Likely at his disposal, so he will still have help when it comes to moving the ball on offense.

The good news is that Flowers still has a few days to at least give himself a shot to play against Pittsburgh. Getting back on the practice field is the first step, though, and his inability to do so on Tuesday isn't a good sign. As a result, Ravens fans will be hoping to see Flowers log some level of participation when the team practices on Wednesday.
