Baltimore Ravens Emerging As Suitor For Big Potential Free Agent Receiver
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens are expected to be one of the top contenders in the AFC once again this season. After coming up just one win short of the Super Bowl in 2023, Lamar Jackson and company are looking to finally get over the hump.

During the NFL offseason this year, the Ravens were aggressive. They did lose Odell Beckham Jr., but they were able to land one of the biggest fishes in the NFL free agency pond. Derrick Henry was signed to join the backfield with Jackson and give Baltimore a legitimate run game.

While the addition of Henry is a big upgrade for the Ravens’ offense, they could still use more help. A Super Bowl is hard to attain and depth at wide receiver is always needed.

With that in mind, the Ravens are starting to emerge as a potential suitor for a free agent wide receiver with huge potential.

Baltimore Ravens Emerging As Suitor For Big Potential Free Agent Receiver

Sports Illustrated has made it clear that they think wide receiver is the biggest question mark for the Baltimore Ravens entering the 2024 season. They have linked the Ravens as potential suitor for a former superstar wideout who is looking to revitalize his NFL career.

“The Ravens once again head into another training camp with concerns at wide receiver. They lack depth and proven playmakers behind Zay Flowers, last year’s impressive rookie. And they gave Rashod Bateman, their 2021 first-round pick, a two-year extension after three uneven seasons with one year left on his rookie deal. Perhaps they look to sign a free agent wideout such as Michael Thomas.”

Thomas is coming off of a decent season with the New Orleans Saints, although he did only play in 10 games. He caught 39 passes for 448 yards and a touchdown.

While those numbers aren’t amazing, they do show that he can make an impact when healthy. In a much better offense with Lamar Jackson instead of Derek Carr, Thomas could do some damage.

Everything will depend on health when it comes to Michael Thomas. If the Baltimore Ravens want to make a low-cost move that could pay off huge, this would be the move to make. Thomas could be the missing piece for the Ravens’ offense if he stays on the field.

There are other teams around the NFL that could make a move for Thomas as well. Among the other potential suitors are the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles. If the Ravens want Thomas, they’ll need to move soon.

It will be interesting to see who ends up giving Thomas a shot. The Baltimore Ravens would be wise to take a long look at this option.
