No one on the Baltimore Ravens received more criticism for Thursday night's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals than head coach John Harbaugh, that's for sure.
Lamar Jackson struggled against Cincinnati's lackluster defense, completing just 17-of-32 passes for 246 yards with an interception. The two-time MVP also had a pair of fumbles in this prime-time game. Most people assumed he was compromised due to his toe injury. Of course, that's no excuse for the offense having five turnovers.
”When you turn the ball over as much as we did tonight, that’s the story of the game,” Harbaugh said after the 32-14 loss. ”We just can’t do it. We can’t do it if you want to win football games.”
There's no question turnovers were the main reason why the Ravens lost, but we can't ignore the lack of touches for Derrick Henry. He had just 10 carries for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Following Thursday night's division loss, Ravens fans aired out their complaints about Harbaugh on social media.
"The Baltimore Ravens need to thank John Harbaugh for his services after this season," one person wrote on X. "It’s time for a factory reset in Baltimore. They no longer have an identity as a football team."
"Ravens will become a better team when they move on from John Harbaugh and get a new GM until then this is who they are in the Lamar Jackson era," another person said.
"I can’t wait till the day they fire John Harbaugh because it’s absolutely criminal that Derrick Henry only has 5 carries in the first half," a Ravens fan said during Thursday's game.
"Longtime NFL fans have known for years that only the Ravens can beat the Ravens, and this is a more common occurrence than people think. This is the main reason why Ravens fans want Baltimore to fire John Harbaugh every single year," a social media user explained.
As of this moment, Baltimore hasn't given any indication that it's willing to move on from Harbaugh. However, NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that a longtime head coach is considering a change of scenery for the 2026 season.
“Keeping tabs as we approach Carousel season: League sources are eyeing five more NFL teams with projected openings at head coach, as of where things stand today, while waiting to collect more data on a 6th team too,” Anderson said. “Meanwhile, there’s is a longtime NFL head coach out there who is considering wanting a change of scenery & has told others of these thoughts. If he acts on those lingering feelings, his departure would clearly add to the list of vacancies.”
Perhaps she was alluding to Harbaugh. If he hits the open market, he'd most likely have a few teams interested in him. After all, he's a Super Bowl champion with a 178-109 career record.
For now though, Harbaugh will be tasked with trying to fix the 2025 Ravens.
