The Baltimore Ravens make an elite defense even better, signing cornerback Jaire Alexander to a one-year, $4 million deal. The former first-round pick in the same draft class as Lamar Jackson, his former Louisville teammate, is now a teammate of his in the NFL. With plenty of teams needing cornerback help, Alexander likely took this one-year prove-it deal to ring chase in Baltimore, as the Ravens’ secondary gets even stronger in 2025.

It was a surprise when the Green Bay Packers let him go, as the star corner was a Pro Bowler with them but had multiple injury issues in the last two years and wasn’t worth keeping on his salary. But with his release, it reset the table on his value, and Alexander decided to take a cheap deal for a year to potentially go for a title this upcoming season in Baltimore.

The 28-year-old All-Pro joins a secondary that signed Chidobe Awuzie in free agency and will have Nate Wiggins, another former first-rounder, heading into his second year. Not to mention another veteran in Marlon Humphrey and former first-round safeties Kyle Hamilton and Malaki Starks, who they just drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft from Georgia.

Heading into his 8th NFL season, despite missing half the season in back-to-back years, the seven-year pro has 12 career picks and 70 pass deflections to his resume. Not to mention, he did have a five-interception season as his career-high back in 2022. While health is still the concern, for the contract, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, it is incentive-based that can go up to $6 million from a $4 million base.

This makes the Baltimore Ravens an obvious AFC powerhouse that looks to surpass the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs for a Super Bowl run in 2025. The recent extensions of Rashod Bateman and Derrick Henry freed up cap space to make this deal happen. More should come on that front as well, as Jackson, Hamilton, Tyler Linderbaum, Odafe Oweh, Isaiah Likely, and Travis Jones could be on the horizon as well.
