The Baltimore Ravens defense will reportedly be down a key contributor in 2025.
On Tuesday, the team was dealt a tough injury blow to its backend which was expected to be one of the best in the NFL.
Per national insider Ian Rapoport, safety Ar'Darius Washington tore his Achilles during Baltimore's offseason conditioning drills and it will cause him to miss most or all of the '25 campaign.
Washington was entering his fifth-year after going undrafted out of TCU back in 2021 and started of 10 of 17 games for the Ravens last season after taking over for Marcus Williams in Week 8.
That led to the former Horned Frog posting a career-high 64 tackles, eight passes defensed, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a sack. All while helping the Ravens to a 12-5 record and AFC North crown.
Washington recently signed a one-year, $3.26 million tender and was supposed to slot in behind Kyle Hamilton and star rookie Malaki Starks in Baltimore's exciting, young defensive backfield.
In the three seasons prior to his 2024 breakout, Washington appeared in just eight games with one start where he made a combined 14 tackles and deflected two passes.
You hate to see anyone go down with a preseason/offseason injury, especially one as serious as an Achilles tear. Hopefully he's able to make a speedy recovery and pick up right where he left off in 2026.
