Bart Scott Gets Honest About Giants Schedule
Eric Seals / USA TODAY NETWORK

The New York Giants will enter 2025 as an undeniably better team than they left 2024. Quarterback Russell Wilson is the improvement, at least on offense, where the Giants will return 10 starters.

Armed with defensive upgrades and competency under center, New York should improve in 2025. However, East Rutherford’s own has been dealt a bad hand. With one of the league’s hardest schedules, Wilson might not bring about the change he anticipates.

On “Get Up,” Bart Scott got honest on the Giants’ schedule and what it could mean for Wilson.

“I think the likelihood that Russell Wilson will probably be benched for (Jaxson) Dart by Week 8,” Scott said. “I mean, I couldn’t find a home win for the Giants this season, talking about that, you know, which puts them in a precarious position because I think, you know, they’re going to be in a position to take the next quarterback next year and maybe Daboll could be, you know, on the cutting block.”

As Scott notes, finding a home win won’t be easy for New York, who plays the following in MetLife Stadium:

  • Kansas City Chiefs (Week 3)
  • Los Angeles Chargers (Week 4)
  • Philadelphia Eagles (Week 6)
  • San Francisco 49ers (Week 9)
  • Green Bay Packers (Week 11)
  • Washington Commanders (Week 15)
  • Minnesota Vikings (Week 16)
  • Dallas Cowboys (Week 18)

The Giants may find themselves as underdogs in each of these games, and while the defense should be among the league’s better units, the high-level quarterbacks of the NFC East and AFC West will test its limits.

“How are they going to score points?” Scott asked. “You’ve got to score points and win football games. This ain’t the 2000s Ravens defense that’s going to hold everybody down.”

Subsequently, it remains possible that Dart debuts earlier than expected, accelerating the redshirt season New York aimed for when it signed two veteran quarterbacks in the opening days of free agency.

Whether Dart starts out of necessity or exceeds expectations is yet to be seen, but Giants fans won’t take long to clamor for him – especially with their schedule suggesting a slow start.
