Bears to Sign Former Rams, Chargers Tight End Gerald Everett

Chicago Bears General Manager Ryan Poles is working hard as NFL free agency begins. According to Senior NFL reporter for ESPN, Jeremy Fowler, the Bears have agreed to terms with former Los Angeles Rams and Chargers tight end, Gerald Everett.

Bears Agree to Terms with Gerald Everett

The Chicago Bears are adding some legitimate and experienced tight end help to the offense. The addition of Gerald Everett gives Justin Fields another offensive weapon and allows Cole Kmet some breathing room.

NFL Insider Adam Schefter added that Everett will receive $6 million guaranteed and will sign a deal worth over $12 million over the next two years.

The Los Angeles Rams selected tight end Gerald Everett 44th overall in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft. In his first four years, Everett caught 50% of his targets for nearly 1,400 receiving yards and scored eight touchdowns for the Rams.

Then in 2021, he joined the Seattle Seahawks. Everett hauled in 48 of his 63 targets and scored four times. But he only spent one year in Seattle before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022.

In two years with the Chargers, Everett caught over 100 passes for nearly 1,000 yards and scored seven touchdowns. He played in almost 60% of the Chargers offensive snaps both years and is even credited with one solo tackle in 2022.
