The Chicago Bears recorded their second consecutive win on Sunday against the New York Jets. They did it with their offense and defense both shining, including in the fourth quarter, when the visitors only had 45 seconds of possession. The team announced an update on social media after the 23-12 victory.

Tyson Bagent started, taking over Case Keenum after his strong performance in Week 3 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The 26-year-old completed 25-of-34 passes for 268 yards, proving that he can run the offense well. Caleb Williams remains out as he continues to recover from the hamstring injury he sustained in the Week 2 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

Chicago made history on Sunday and also improved its season record to 3-1. It is showing the rest of the competition that it can win without Williams as it has two capable backups waiting in the wings.

Chicago Bears make franchise history against Jets

The Bears posted a graphic on Instagram, announcing a feat they achieved for the first time since 1997. The team did not allow a single third-down conversion to the Jets, flexing their defensive dominance throughout the 23-12 win.

“Standing strong on 3rd down

,” Chicago wrote.

Kyle Monangai impressed from the backfield by recording 30 rushing attempts for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Rome Odunze led the receiving corps with six receptions for yards.

Next up for the Bears is a rivalry game against the Green Bay Packers. It’s the first of a two-game road trip, as they’ll travel to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Oct. 18 to take on the Atlanta Falcons. The Packers offense has shown what it’s capable of with two 30-plus point games this season, leaving Chicago’s defense with a lot of preparations to make. The unit will be key to securing another win to extend the team’s streak to three straight and achieve a 4-1 record.
