Bears Confirm Unfortunate Darnell Mooney News
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears have been plagued by injuries throughout the 2022 NFL campaign.

Unfortunately, with a new development that broke out today, it looks like they will be without another one of their offensive weapons.

Darnell Mooney will miss the rest of the season, leaving quarterback Justin Fields down another receiver.

Mooney being out for the season is just the icing on the cake for what has been a disappointing season overall for the Bears.

With a record of 3-9, they are nearly eliminated from playoff contention and are in a prime position for the number two overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Looking To The Future

While the 2022 campaign is all but lost for Mooney and the Bears, they certainly have reason to believe that they will have success in 2023 and beyond.

For starters, the Bears can take solace in the fact that they have what appears to be a franchise quarterback in Fields.

Fields has played significantly better in 2022 than he did in 2021.

Through 11 games, Fields is completing passes at a near 60% rate and has thrown for 1,642 yards and 13 touchdowns.

He has proven to be a dual threat at quarterback, getting it done on the ground as well as through the air.

In the 11 games that he’s played this year, Fields has already rushed for 834 yards and added seven touchdowns.

If Fields takes another step forward in the 2023 NFL season, the Bears will be sitting in a great spot.

Also, if they can draft well, they should add much key offensive and defensive weapons, finally making the Bears contenders in the NFC North.
