Sitting at 4-3 on the season, the Chicago Bears are still in a solid spot all things considered, but the team's performance in Week 8 against a Lamar Jackson-less Baltimore Ravens proved to be a rude awakening for everyone.
Offensively, the Bears have a lot to seriously address starting with the consistent amount of self-inflicted mistakes. Defensively, the takeaways the team benefitted from the previous four games weren't able to be made, showing some of the kinks in the armor.
As it stands, the Bears have some big in-house decisions to make, but the team could also benefit from some potential shopping ahead of the Nov 4th trade deadline. With Austin Booker hopefully set to return and boost the pass rush, upgrading the cornerback spot would be the ideal move to make.
But, it's worth considering the cost and how dire the need truly is. The Bears can't afford to give up a Day 2 or higher pick and the team also should be shopping for a one-year rental considering the team will eventually get Jaylon Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson, and Kyler Gordon all back by the end of the season. With that being said, there's one clear target who makes a lot of sense to pursue.
If the #Bears think they can compete for a playoff spot this year, trading for a CB is a must.

Doesn’t mean they need to sell out for one but a stop gap option for the remainder of the year for a Day 3 pick makes plenty of sense.
Shopping for a stopgap fix at cornerback limits the Bears to an extent looking at the market, but New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor is the intriguing player to watch for Chicago as someone who brings outside/inside versatility and has familiarity with Dennis Allen's scheme.
I spoke with A to Z Sports New Orleans' Adam Holt to explore this scenario more and why this could benefit all parties involved.
"Alontae Taylor is a player who New Orleans discussed an extension with over the offseason. Nothing came to fruition there, and some up and down moments this season has caused some speculation into whether or not he will stick around with the team.
I could definitely see the Saints moving him before the November deadline since he’s on an expiring deal and hasn’t proven to show the consistency the team may have hoped for entering the campaign. The return is what would be most intriguing, though. New Orleans shouldn’t sell him, or other pieces, for pennies on the dollar. That being said, they sit at 1-7 and must find any routes to acquiring more draft compensation to add young talent." - Adam Holt, A to Z Sports New Orleans

Taylor is playing some of the best football of his career this season, which could be a red flag considering it's his first season not playing for Dennis Allen, who joined the Bears as the defensive coordinator after being fired as the Saints head coach.
But, it's clear Kyler Gordon's injury has had a major impact on the defense based on Sunday's outcome and how the first four games of the season looked without having the standout nickel. Bears head coach Ben Johnson noted Gordon's stint on the injured reserve is expected to be in a short-term variety, but it's already the second soft tissue injury he's dealt with this season. Taylor could easily be someone who could slide into that role until Gordon is back.
At the same time, Stevenson is expected to be day-to-day or week-to-week on the outside according to Johnson with a shoulder injury suffered in Week 7. The Bears hoped they had the adequate depth needed to make up for those two losses, but the secondary struggled to hold up without much pass rush help on Sunday against the Ravens.
Facing a multi-week absence with Gordon, acquiring a player like Taylor as a rental can boost the team's entire CB depth for the remainder of the season, but we'll see if it's worth the cost of a future pick to this front office and coaching staff.
