The Chicago Bears have been dealt a favorable hand this season, which has played a role in the team's 7-3 start to the season, due to factors outside of the team's control.

Against the Baltimore Ravens, the Bears were able to dodge Lamar Jackson (although the team still lost against QB Tyler Huntley). The following week against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Bears got out of playing Joe Burrow and Joe Flacco was entering the game dealing with a shoulder injury (although Flacco still had a career-high in passing yards). The week after that against the New York Giants, Jaxson Dart was forced to leave the game with a concussion allowing Chicago to come back and win.

Yes, the Bears have gotten some lucky breaks this season and played some lesser opponents, but Chicago doesn't see it that way. You play who you play and in the NFL anything can happen. Yet, looking ahead to Week 12, the Bears might catch another lucky break but the team seems to actually be hoping for the opposite.

Bears are hoping to play against Aaron Rodgers in Week 12

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a left wrist injury in Week 11 and was forced to exit the game. Tests on Monday confirmed Rodgers would not have to undergo surgery to repair his non-throwing wrist, putting a Week 12 return on the table against the Bears.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin noted Friday's practice will be the deciding factor in whether or not Rodgers can play but Bears head coach Ben Johnson seemingly has an unexpected preference.

"I've got a lot of respect for Aaron Rodgers," Johnson said on Wednesday. "He's done this at a high level for an incredible amount of time. If he's ready to go this week, we would love nothing more than to compete against him."

That's a pretty honest answer from Johnson and I guarantee the defensive players in the building feel the same way. No one wants an easy matchup, you want to play against the best every Sunday. Rodgers is one of the greatest of all time, even if he's a little banged up, and it would be a massive opportunity for the Bears to face him this weekend.

It's also an incredible opportunity for quarterback Caleb Williams, who grew up idolizing Rodgers and now gets the chance to play against him for the first, and perhaps only time of his career.

Bears fans seem to be split on how they feel. Rodgers holds a 24-5 record against the Bears in his career and famously told the home crowd at Soldier Field "I own you" back in 2021. The majority of people, inside and outside the building, would like to face Rodgers and send him out of Soldier Field with a loss one final time.
