It happened. No, really, it finally happened. Dating back to 2023, fans of the Chicago Bears have been hoping and praying for Ben Johnson to replace Matt Eberflus as the head coach of the team. Fast forward to Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, the Chicago Bears have hired Ben Johnson as their next head coach.

Johnson was one of 17 candidates that the Bears interviewed for the head coaching vacancy. However, reports indicated that Johnson was the team's primary target all along. After the Detroit Lions were upset in the playoffs by the Washington Commanders on Saturday, Johnson became free to sign on with any team he wanted. He wanted the Bears job and is now the head man in Chicago.

Fans were sitting at the private airport in Chicago, hoping to get a glimpse of Johnson arriving. Regardless of where he is, the fanbase will now rejoice after the Bears finally hired a head coach that was considered a top candidate in the market.

Early reports already indicate that Johnson is looking to bring in former New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen as his defensive coordinator. The addition of a coach with head coaching experience in the NFL and a great defensive mind sets up well for Johnson, who will surely call and lead the offense given his background.

As Johnson builds his staff, the excitement surrounding the Bears will only grow. Caleb Williams has his offensive-minded head coach and the Bears got perhaps the hottest coaching candidate available over the last two seasons. It is a huge win for the franchise and the fanbase with Johnson taking over.
