D’Andre Swift and Grady Jarrett were two of the players who were included on the Chicago Bears’ injury report heading into Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Both starters were listed as questionable to play with respective injuries, which would have had a significant impact on Chicago’s lineup against New Orleans.
Swift has been dealing with a groin injury, which he sustained in the Bears’ hard-fought 25-24 victory against the Washington Commanders in Week 6. Jarrett, on the other hand, has missed the last two contests due to a lingering knee issue that he has been dealing with since the start of the season.
Swift, who registered 14 carries for a season-high 108 yards against Washington, was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. The Pro Bowl running back, however, was limited on Thursday and Friday, casting doubt on his availability for Sunday’s contest. The Bears officially listed him as questionable to play against the Saints.
As for Jarrett, the two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle is also questionable to play because of his knee issue. The 32-year-old was also a limited participant in Friday’s practice.
The Bears, however, got a major boost on Friday night. According to NFL network reporter Ian Rapoport, both Swift and Jarrett are now expected to suit up in their Week 7 matchup against New Orleans.
“#Bears RB D’Andre Swift (groin) and DT Grady Jarrett (knee) are both listed as questionable and both expected to play Sunday, sources say,” Rapoport reported on X.
It is worth noting that Swift has been dealing with multiple injuries of late. He was listed as questionable for Week 3 (quad) and Week 4 (hip) but was still able to suit up and take on his usual workload. It appears that this will be the case again come Sunday.
Jarrett’s return shores up Chicago’s defense by providing interior stability. However, the fact that he likely won’t be a hundred percent could limit his contributions to the secondary. Nevertheless, it’s a step in the right direction for a Bears defense that remains a work in progress this season.
Chicago hosts Sunday’s matchup at Soldier Field, with kickoff scheduled at 1:00 p.m. ET.
