The Chicago Bears punt return unit took a hit Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers as receiver and return man DeAndre Carter exited early with an injury. Carter was deemed doubtful to return with a hamstring injury.

On the season, Carter has provided a nice spark, averaging 9.3 yards per punt return. His longest punt return went for 38 yards. Additionally, he averages a hefty 32.4 yards per kick return. In his place, Josh Blackwell is returning punts. Entering today, Blackwell had only returned one career punt in his three-year NFL career.
