Bears Linked To Colts LB Bobby Okereke Among Other NFL Teams
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Bears and Panthers are rumored to be suitors for the fifth-year linebacker out of Stanford.

The Chicago Bears need defensive help and that sometimes gets lost in the conversation with the heavy focus on building the offense around Justin Fields. But there is an interesting report of the Bears being linked to Indianapolis Colts linebacker, Bobby Okereke.

According to NFL Insider for theScore, Jordan Schultz, the Bears, Panthers, and others are interested in signing Okereke.

Bobby Okereke Fits With The Bears

The Colts drafted Bobby Okereke 89th overall in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft. He played in 64 games for the Colts and nabbed three interceptions during his four years in Indianapolis. Okereke also forced four fumbles and recovered five as well.

Not only does Bobby Okereke have interesting potential but he has an immediate relationship with Matt Eberflus. This kind of connection could be something crucial for the Chicago Bears defense and they need a foundation desperately.

After losing Roquan Smith in 2022 among other defensive pieces, the Bears have to build the core of the defense back up. Injuries plagued the Bears last season, so assuming the health of the team improves and Ryan Poles is good at his job, the defense should be much better in 2023.

Bobby Okereke would absolutely fit with the Chicago Bears. Having Eberflus reunite with one of his former players, who also had a stellar season during the final year Matt was his defensive coordinator, could be exponentially beneficial for bringing Chicago's defense back up to par.
