The Chicago Bears announced that offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood returned to practice Wednesday. Leatherwood was diagnosed with mononucleosis back in September and was placed on the non-football illness list.

Leatherwood can return to practice, but he will remain on the non-football illness list. His clearance to return to practice will start a 21-day window for him to return to the 53-man roster.

The Bears signed Leatherwood on Aug. 31. The 2021 first-round pick of the Raiders started all 17 games for Las Vegas last season. But he underperformed in the eyes of their new regime and was released.

Chicago Bears' head coach Matt Eberflus previously said he "felt great" about where Leatherwood was and is excited to have him back. At this time, it remains unclear when Leatherwood will return to game action.
