Bears QB Justin Fields makes bold promise after Lions loss

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields made a bold promise after the team's 31-30 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Fields said that he would never throw another pick-six interception again in his career after tossing one to Lions cornerback Jeff Okudah in the defeat.

It's a big claim for Fields to make, but his recent emergence shows that he's ready to back it up the best he can.

Fields rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns against Detroit's defense, averaging 11.3 yards a carry. That pairs with 167 yards and two touchdowns in the air, giving him 314 total yards of offense and four touchdowns in the loss.

Fields is single-handedly carrying the 3-7 Bears during his recent run, but the team should be able to put major resources into its roster in the 2023 offseason via the draft and free agency.

Chicago has $124 million in cap space at the moment with room to grow, per Over the Cap. The team also has eight draft picks next spring, including two fourth-round picks.

While Fields might not be able to go the entirety of his career without another pick-six, his and Chicago's futures are bright if he continues to elevate from this level.
