Bears QB Justin Fields Ranks Atop NFC Quarterbacks
Lon Horwedel-USA TODAY Sports

Justin Fields has been ranked the number one quarterback in the NFC by Adam Rank of the NFL Network.

To no surprise, the entire NFL universe is high on Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields. That said, just how high are they? One NFL expert thinks Fields is the best QB in the NFC.

In his latest NFC QB rankings, Adam Rank of the NFL Network has ranked Justin Fields as the best quarterback in the NFC entering 2023. Fellow NFC QBs Jalen Hurts, Dak Prescott, Kirk Cousins, and Derek Carr round out the list.

Compared to last year, Fields has an improved receiving core featuring DJ Moore , Chase Claypool, and Darnell Mooney. This reason alone should help Fields' numbers jump. However, is it enough to make him number one in the NFC?

As long as Fields has a poor offensive line, there will be concern. Looking at the other teams that have QBs in Rank's top 5, they all have offensive lines that are collectively better than the Bears. When teams have great offensive lines, everything becomes easier, even with a less talented receiving corps. Quarterbacks who have time will throw the ball to the rights spots and find the open man. It will be challenging for Fields to throw the ball if he is on his back all the time or if he's running for his life like he was at times last season.

If Bears GM Ryan Poles addresses this issue through the draft and what's left of free agency, then Fields' ranking is justifiable. However, if there isn't enough of an upgrade made in front of Fields, ranking him atop the NFC is a difficult argument.
