Bears RB Tarik Cohen: If you boo Mitchell Trubisky during preseason game vs. Bills you're lame

Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen had a specific message for fans ahead of Saturday's preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.

Cohen tweeted that anyone who boos former Bears signal-caller Mitchell Trubisky, who is now with the Bills, is "lame" and a "weirdo."

Trubisky signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Bills after four years with the Bears. He had just two pass attempts in Buffalo's 16-15 preseason victory over the Detroit Lions last weekend.

Chicago selected the 27-year-old second overall in 2017, and he went 29-21 in the regular season and 0-2 in the playoffs as the Bears' starting quarterback. He completed 64% of his throws for 10,609 yards and 64 touchdowns against 37 interceptions. Trubisky's best season came in 2018 when he went 11-3 and threw for a career-high 3,223 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Despite starting the 2020 season 3-0, Trubisky's declining play resulted in Bears head coach Matt Nagy benching him in favor of Nick Foles. But after Foles suffered an injury, Trubisky returned to the starting lineup with six games remaining in the regular season. After losing his first two games, he led Chicago to a wild card berth.

It was an up-and-down season for the North Carolina product, but now he's hoping to resurrect his career with the Bills as Josh Allen's backup.

The Bears, meanwhile, have Andy Dalton and Justin Fields at quarterback. Nagy has insisted Dalton will be the team's starter, but Fields certainly is putting up a fight this summer as he looks to win the job.
