Bears Release T Jedrick Wills

Wills was a standout lineman at Alabama, where he earned first-team All-SEC and second-team All-America honors in 2019. The Browns drafted Wills 10th overall the next year, and he immediately became their No. 1 left tackle. After Wills started in all 45 appearances during his first three seasons, the Browns picked up his fifth-year option.

Unfortunately for Wills and Cleveland, knee problems threw his career off course in 2023. He missed nine games game that year, sat out another dozen in 2024, and did not sign anywhere last season.

The 6-foot-4, 307-pounder officially resumed his career when he inked a one-year, $1.22MM deal with the Bears in March. At the time, there was major uncertainty surrounding Bears left tackle Ozzy Trapilo, who tore his patellar tendon in January. Trapilo has gone through a quick rehab process and could return to game action in a few weeks, but in the meantime, the Bears will need someone to handle his spot. While they gave Wills a chance to compete with Braxton Jones, Theo Benedet and Kiran Amegadjie, he is now out of the running.

Having started in 57 of 58 career appearances, Wills could catch on as depth elsewhere. If not, it appears the 27-year-old will have a chance to rejoin the Bears as a member of their practice squad.
