Bears reported favorite to land Carson Wentz but quarterback prefers Colts

One of the biggest questions in the NFL this offseason is which team will Carson Wentz end up on? The Eagles appear to be shopping the talented but inconsistent quarterback around the league and according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Chicago Bears have emerged as the favorite to land Wentz.

The Bears have been considered one of the most likely landing spots for Wentz since he was placed on the trading block, as the team is in desperate need of an upgrade at quarterback over Nick Foles and Mitch Trubisky. Plus, John DeFilippo, Chicago's passing-game coordinator, previously was the quarterbacks coach for the Eagles during Wentz's best seasons.

But will Wentz be willing to go to Chicago? According to Breer, his preferred destination remains Indianapolis, so he can reunite with Colts coach Frank Reich, who was Philadelphia's offensive coordinator in 2016-17.

"I think it has become pretty clear he'd rather go to Indianapolis," Breer said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. "I think part of it now for the Eagles is if our best return right now is Chicago over Indy, then we need to convince Carson Wentz this is the only place you are going, and you need to buck up and accept this and realize the Bears are going to give you a good chance."

The Colts have reportedly offered the Eagles two second-round picks for Wentz but Philadelphia is hoping to get a first-round pick in exchange for the quarterback. Perhaps Chicago is willing to give up a first for Wentz, which would certainly make them the front-runner.
