Now a few weeks removed from the NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears are signing their draft picks. Just the other day, the team signed draft pick Zack Thomas to a rookie deal. Thomas marked the eighth player from the 11-man class to sign. However, on Tuesday, the ninth Bears rookie signed in form of WR Velus Jones Jr.

Jones Jr. signed his standard third-round pick rookie contract, which is a four-year deal. With Jones Jr. now signed, the Bears have two remaining unsigned picks. Ironically, the team’s top two picks, Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker, are the final two rookies that need to sign.

Last season, Jones Jr. racked up 62 catches for Tennessee with 807 yards and seven touchdowns. Although there is skepticism within the fan base about his numbers, the pure athleticism is certainly something that should excite fans. His raw speed and ability as a kick returner profile well at the next level. The Bears wanted athletes in this draft, and it’s hard to argue Jones Jr.’s physical traits.

With voluntary OTAs ongoing, the Bears will likely look to get their final two draft picks signed. At this point, the countdown begins to the start of training camp when the real anticipation for the 2022 Bears season begins.
