The Chicago Bears strategically moved to bolster new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron's group by signing ex-Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift. Per Mike Garafalo, the Bears and Swift agreed to a three-year deal worth $24 million with $15.3 million guaranteed as the legal tampering window of NFL free agency opened on Monday at noon ET.

Swift, who is coming off a career year with the Eagles last season, showcased his potential by rushing 229 times for 1,049 yards and five touchdowns. However, his prowess in the receiving game holds promise for the Bears and possibly rookie quarterback Caleb Williams this upcoming season. Swift demonstrated his versatility with 39 receptions on 49 targets for 214 yards and a touchdown in 2023.

Swift's journey to success is a testament to his resilience. After a relatively disappointing start as a first-round pick of the Lions in 2020, he was traded to the Eagles last offseason due to a series of injuries that hindered his progress in Detroit. Despite these setbacks, Swift's determination led to a breakout campaign. He became a pivotal cornerstone of the Eagles' offense and earned his first Pro Bowl honors.

With the Bears, Swift joins incumbents Roschon Johnson and Khalil Herbert to round out a three-headed rushing attack that looks primed to remain a top-three in the league for the third year in a row.
