Bears To Release WR Scotty Miller

Chicago is releasing Miller, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweets. Miller would stand to be a candidate as a veteran practice squad stash — behind an active-roster core of youngsters.

The former Buccaneers Super Bowl LV champion overlapped with Bears wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El in Tampa. Miller is best known for his tertiary role on that Tom Brady-quarterbacked team, but he has remained a fixture in training camps since. Miller became an Arthur Smith come-with guy, suiting up for the Falcons in 2023 and the Steelers over the past two years.

Miller, 29, did not eclipse 70 receiving yards in either of his Steelers seasons. As it stands, the Bears are likely deciding between Kaden Davis and Maurice Alexander for their No. 6 wide receiver role, ESPN.com’s Courtney Cronin tweets.

An afterthought in most of the receiving cadres he’s been part of, Miller produced an outlier 2020 season that proved rather significant in the grand scheme. He ended the regular season with 502 receiving yards — by far a career-high mark — and delivered a crucial end-of-half TD on a lob from Brady. That connection helped the Bucs hold off the Packers and book a Super Bowl berth.

A P-squad spot would be a change of pace for Miller, who played 26 Steelers games from 2024-25 after being on the field in all Falcons contests during Smith’s 2023 Atlanta finale.
