Bears to wear alternate orange helmet in two October 2022 games

The Chicago Bears joined the growing list of teams set to wear alternate helmets at some point during the 2022 regular season.

On Sunday, the Bears unveiled an orange helmet, marking the first time in the franchise history that the team will wear a helmet that isn't primarily navy blue.

"We believe we have the best uniforms in sports, certainly among the most iconic," Bears owner George McCaskey said in a statement. "So, we're not looking to overhaul it. We just want to make enhancements to the existing look from time to time and we think this is a great enhancement. I'm very excited for this modification. I like that it's staying within the traditional Bears look. We're excited about them and hope the fans will be too."

The Bears announced the alternate helmets will be worn for regular season games against the Washington Commanders on Oct. 13 and Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 30.

Last offseason, the NFL changed its uniform rules to allow for teams to introduce alternate helmets in 2022.
