Behind-the-scenes footage shows how the second-round of the 2025 NFL Draft still turned out perfectly for the Bears despite early hiccup

The 2025 NFL Draft turned out to be a fruitful one for the Chicago Bears in the first draft under the partnership of general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson.

It didn't turn out any many fans expected, but the team still accomplished all the goals they set to achieve. Johnson got two versatile weapons on offense, Poles added some needed depth on the offensive line, Dennis Allen got his requested speed on defense, and the team still ended up coming away with a running back.

All in all, it was still a successful draft weekend back in April and now all the new faces are mixing in with the rest of the team during OTAs.

With the draft in the rearview mirror, the most intriguing period of the process took place in the second-round, with the Bears ultimately coming away with Luther Burden III, Ozzy Trapilo, and Shemar Turner.

Going into Day 2, the Bears held the 39th and 41st overall picks in the second-round along with the 72nd overall pick in the third-round. When Day 2 started, it's since been reported that the Bears attempted to trade up for a potential running back, but instead missed out on Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson.

This reporting was backed up during the New England Patriots' draft video with the Bears calling New England to swap second-round picks with the Patriots, who ended up selecting Henderson one spot ahead of Chicago with the 38th overall pick.

On Tuesday, the Bears released their own draft behind-the-scenes video on YouTube, which cut out those conversations. But, the video did focus on what happened throughout the rest of the day, including a trade with the Buffalo Bills that turned picks 41, 72, and 240 into picks 56, 62, and 109.

"That was one of those situations where our preparation really paid off," Poles said in the latest episode of 1920 Football Drive. "We were going to move back and just kind of get a feel for who's going to be there..."

"Overall that trade was one of the cooler trades that I've seen. Just in terms of moving back to get value and moving our third-round pick into second, giving us three twos, which I thought was in the sweet spot of this draft. That was a move we didn't project to happen and it came together for us on draft day."

As a result, the Bears left the second-round landing great value in Burden, a very smart and dependable offensive tackle in Trapilo, and a high-energy and violent interior defender in Turner.

So, while the Bears didn't quite come away with the desired running back in Henderson at the start of Day 2, the front office stayed focused and still came out of the second-round with a perfect outcome.
