A beloved reporter for the Chicago Bears had bittersweet news to share with NFL fans this Tuesday.

Adam Jahns, a beat writer for the Bears, has been covering the squad for The Athletic for the past few years. Prior to joining The Athletic, he wrote for the Chicago Sun-Times. Overall, he's been covering sports in the Windy City for the past two decades.

On Tuesday afternoon, Jahns revealed that he's leaving The Athletic. That being said, he's not ready to say goodbye to Chicago.

"This isn't easy. It's hard to say goodbye to a great place to work," Jahns wrote. "A place with great colleagues and close friends. A place where some of my best work was done and a place that changed the sportswriting game. But here we go: I’m leaving The Athletic. What comes next is very exciting. I’m not leaving Chicago. In fact, you might see even more of me. I can’t wait to tell you about it. But that’s for later this week.

"Right now, I’d like to express my gratitude for everyone at The Athletic. It was truly a dream job. I’ve said this many times but The Athletic is everything I thought great sportswriting could be. There’s so many people to thank. But I do want to highlight some. Mike Sansone is a fantastic editor and a better man. I was fortunate to have him handle everything I did. I grew up reading and looking up to Dan Pompei. Working with him was an honor. I’m forever thankful for Jon Greenberg and Scott Powers. The Athletic wouldn’t be here without them, and they were instrumental in me joining the company. And then there’s Kevin Fishbain, a colleague and teammate who became a dear friend. I’ll miss working with him the most."

Jahns finished off his statement with this message: "I wouldn’t be here doing what I love without the support of my family and friends but also those who read what I write and listen to what I have to say."

There are plenty of Bears fans waiting to see what's next for Jahns.

Suffice to say, Jahns will have plenty of supporters regardless of his next stop.
