The Chicago Bears positioned themselves as a team to watch this season with the hiring of former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as head coach, a move that fans hope will shore up one of the franchise's historic Achilles heels, the passing game.
The Bears are expected to rely on quarterback Caleb Williams, a reimagined offensive line, and an offense loaded with talented young skill players in Johnson's first season.
On Tuesday, Johnson's comments were shared on a rookie standout from this offseason who has begun turning heads with his peerless work ethic at the Bears' practice facility.
"Everyone's completely different, I can tell ya, from the moment he's (Colston Loveland) gotten into the building, I'm just blown away by how he approaches everything," Johnson said about Chicago's first round pick out of Michigan.
"I mean, I don't think there's a guy I saw in the building more this summer than him," Johnson added.
"You know, it's really a credit for who he wants to be as he continues to get; he's attacking the rehab hard, he wants to be a factor here this fall," the Bears coach added.
Loveland missed time last season with a Type V AC joint dislocation in his right shoulder and is now preparing to take on tougher competition at the next level.
Johnson helped unlock the considerable talents of another former Big Ten tight end, Sam LaPorta, with the Lions before moving on to the Bears this offseason.
