Bengals roster breakdown is back! During the 99 days leading up to Cincinnati's regular season opener against the Cleveland Browns, the player with the matching jersey number as days remaining will become the day's highlighted player.

73 days remain until the Bengals' first game of the 2025 season, which has No. 73 Andrew Stueber the topic of today's breakdown.

Andrew Stueber

Age: 25
Year: 4th
Position: Guard
College: Michigan
Previous Teams: New England Patriots (2022-23), Atlanta Falcons (2024)
Jersey Number: 73

Stueber enters his fourth season in the NFL and second with the Bengals after being drafted 245th overall in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He played three years at Michigan from 2018-21, making his first two career starts at right tackle as a sophomore. He missed the entire 2019 season due to an offseason injury, but came back in 2020 to start the final six games of that season, including three games at right guard. He started the entire 2021 season at RT.

The Patriots essentially redshirted Stueber as a rookie due to injury in 2022 and kept him on the practice squad for nearly the entire 2023 season. He was elevated to the active roster once in Week 17 but never saw the field. He was released by New England in the 2024 offseason and signed by the Falcons. Atlanta kept him on its practice squad to start the season before Cincinnati claimed him to its active roster following Week 5. He spent nearly two months on the team and played his first-ever game in Week 9, taking one snap as an inline blocker. He was waived and dropped to the practice squad for Week 13 before being added back to the team to close out the season. He played four snaps of RG in Week 15.

Contract Details

Stueber is in the second year of his two-year, $1.755 million contract he signed in 2024. He can earn a base salary of $960,000 this season, which represents his potential cash earnings and salary cap hit for the season. The Bengals would take on zero dead money if they were to release at any point this year.

Roster Outlook

Stueber left college as a tackle but has played both tackle and guard at the next level including preseason reps. He may have to showcase value at both spots in order to make the 2025 Bengals.

It's tough to put Stueber any higher than fifth in the hierarchy at tackle and sixth at guard right now. The team will likely carry a maximum of four at the former and five at the latter, respectively, depending on other factors. He'll need to greatly impress a new offensive line coach and others ahead of him on the depth chart to stumble along the way to receiver anything beyond a possible practice squad invite.

Roster odds: 5%
Projected role:
Reserve offensive lineman
