12 players are officially back with the Cincinnati Bengals. The team announced the first iteration of the practice squad Wednesday afternoon.

Bengals' Initial Practice Squad

  • CB Nate Brooks
  • WR Cole Burgess
  • OT Devin Cochran
  • DT Domenique Davis
  • CB Jalen Davis
  • TE Cam Grandy
  • LB Shaka Heyward
  • C Trey Hill
  • WR Shedrick Jackson
  • S PJ Jules
  • WR Kendric Pryor
  • QB Logan Woodside

All 12 players were originally cut by the Bengals this week. Davis and Woodside were the only two who didn't have to go through waivers in order to return.

Cincinnati can fit up to 16 players on the practice squad, so expect more additions to follow.

One of those additions could be running back Trayveon Williams. The team released the former 2019 sixth-round pick in order to make room for new edge defender K.J. Henry, whom was acquired on waivers Wednesday.

Cutting Williams means the Bengals only have two running backs on the active roster and none on the initial practice squad. That is surely to change in the near future. Williams can be signed to the practice squad tomorrow and be elevated for up to three games this season.

Before long, the Bengals will have at least three running backs on the active roster. For now, they'll go light to make up for injuries along the defensive line. The team has six defensive tackles and five edge defenders on the current active roster to make up for Myles Murphy and McKinnley Jackson's injuries.
