Bengals G Michael Jordan took Joe Burrow injury 'really personal'

Cincinnati Bengals left guard Michael Jordan was beaten on the play that resulted in then-rookie quarterback Joe Burrow suffering a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee last November:

While all indications are Burrow is recovering well from that setback, Jordan told The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr. that he hasn't forgotten about his worst moment from the 2020 season.

"I took it really personal," Jordan said of Burrow's injury. "It took me about a week to get out of my own head."

Jordan added that he apologized to his signal-caller and promised to "do better" down the road.

"He really just said thank you, I appreciate it," Jordan said of Burrow's response. "He told me he loved me, and I told him I loved him, too. There’s always love between me and Joe Burrow. He’s a great guy — hell of a guy. I just really don’t have anything else to say to him; I just want to show him. That’s all I want to do."

Burrow reportedly remains on track to be on the field when Cincinnati opens the 2021 campaign against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 12. As Dehner noted for a piece published Friday, Jordan is competing with rookie Jackson Carman, Quinton Spain, and Xavier Su’a-Filo to own a starting spot alongside Burrow for Week 1.
