The latest injury report for the Cincinnati Bengals appears slightly more promising than yesterday's, but one key player remains out with one practice remaining until Week 2's matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Wide receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring) missed his third consecutive practice going back to last week with his tweaked hamstring. Missing the first two practices of this week does not bode well for him practicing tomorrow and eventually being active for Sunday afternoon.
Joining Higgins on the rehab field was rookie defensive tackle Kris Jenkins Jr. (thumb). Jenkins also missed practice Wednesday along with Higgins.
The 51 other players on the active roster practiced Thursday including tight end Tanner Hudson (knee) and linebacker Logan Wilson (knee). Both players missed Wednesday's practice. Wilson's knee injury was a surprising development yesterday, but it clearly isn't too bad for him to return to practice the following day. The Bengals will need Wilson on Sunday as the defense looks to improve its tackling from Week 1.
Rookie offensive tackle Amarius Mims (pectoral) continues to practice and is on track to being active, but starting over veteran Trent Brown this week isn't likely. A full week of full participation may be required before that happens.
Running back Zack Moss (neck) was the only addition to the injury report, but he was a full participant. Moss led the way for the Bengals' ground game last week with nine rushes for 44 yards and the team's only touchdown.
The club has to list every player who received some form of treatment during practice, so even though Moss didn't miss any practice time, like quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist), Moss likely was tended to for his neck in some capacity.
Chiefs wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown (shoulder) remains out with the sternoclavicular joint injury he suffered during Kansas City's first preseason game. He's the only player to not practice this week for the Chiefs.
