Bengals' Joe Burrow comments on comparisons to Buccaneers' Tom Brady

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is doing all he can to brush aside comparisons to Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal-caller Tom Brady ahead of Sunday's clash.

"It is what it is," Burrow remarked about the matter on Wednesday, per Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer. "I don't really pay attention to it. He's Tom and I'm Joe."

For a piece published early Wednesday morning, The Athletic's Jay Morrison and Paul Dehner Jr. offered reasons for why Burrow reminds some within the football community of Brady. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler noted in July that "a veteran NFL offensive coach" said at that time that Burrow "might be the closest thing" playing today to the seven-time Super Bowl champion signal-caller.

It is understandable Burrow wants to put the topic out of mind as he and the 9-4 Bengals prepare to play at the 6-7 Buccaneers this Sunday. Cincinnati is currently second in the AFC North standings due to losing to the 9-4 Baltimore Ravens in October. Those teams will see each other again in Week 18.

"It's our 14th game of the season," Burrow added. "You know, obviously, the greatest quarterback ever is on the other side, but we've got a job to do, too, and our job is to go and win, get to 10-4 and move on."

According to ESPN stats, Burrow is third in the NFL with 3,685 passing yards, second with 27 passing touchdowns and tied for seventh among qualified players with a 59.6 total QBR on the campaign. To compare, Brady is fourth with 3,585 passing yards, tied for 13th with 17 passing touchdowns and 23rd with a 51.0 total QBR.
