The Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals held a joint practice Wednesday ahead of their preseason game against each other on Friday. While the practice was highlighted by two fights involving Pro Bowl OL Elgton Jenkins, Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love also performed well.

He played so well, in fact, that numerous Bengals defensive players had great things to say about him after practice was over. D.J. Reader, the Bengals defensive lineman who fought Jenkins, said he liked Love’s confidence and demeanor. Mike Hilton, a Cincinnati cornerback, said, “I think Green Bay got a good one” when asked about Love’s performance.

Thursday, Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated revealed his own analysis of Love’s performance against the Bengals on Wednesday, as well as some fairly high praise from Germaine Pratt, Cincinnati’s inside linebacker.

According to multiple reports, both the Packers and Bengals defenses won the day against the opposing offenses. However, Love was not the reason the Green Bay offense “lost.” In fact, Huber had some really positive things to say about the new starting quarterback;

He never looked rattled. Aside from the receiver-screen-turned-interception, Love kept the football out of harm’s way. He threw three pinpoint-perfect passes on deep shots. He even threw a no-look completion to Romeo Doubs.

Huber then shared some extremely high praise that Pratt had for Love following practice:

“I think he’s good,” Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt said. “I thought he was solid, to be honest. I didn’t really know what to expect because I was always thinking of [Aaron Rodgers], but I think he’s solid. … I think he’ll be a great player, to be honest. He learned from A-Rod, now he gets the keys to run the system.”

In addition to numerous Packers teammates, several Bengals players have publicly talked about how good they think Love is.
