Bengals QB Joe Burrow off to historically bad start

The Cincinnati Bengals fell to 1-3 after losing 27-3 to the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. It's not the start to the season many imagined Cincinnati would have, and it's one that has been historically bad for QB Joe Burrow.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Burrow is the first quarterback in NFL history to attempt at least 150 passes in his team's first four games of a season and average fewer than five yards per attempt on those passes.

The fourth-year quarterback has thrown for just 728 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions through four games.

Burrow's early struggles could be chalked up to his calf injury, which he reaggravated in Week 2, but he said he "felt good" after not having any setbacks in Week 3.

Either way, the Bengals must find a recipe for success on offense. They rank as the worst team in total yards per game (236) and points per game (12.3) through the first four weeks of the season.

Cincinnati has also scored a total of just three offensive touchdowns through their first four games, the fewest of any team in the NFL, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

The Bengals now find themselves in a difficult scenario. They have a losing record and need a win, but Burrow is clearly not fully healthy. On top of that, Burrow has shown no signs of wanting to sit out.

"There is risk to go out there and potentially reinjure it, but there's also a risk to go out there and be 0-3," Burrow said after the team's Week 3 win over the Rams. "So I wanted to be out there for my guys, and I was confident I was going to be able to do what I needed to do to get the win."

Luckily, Cincinnati's bye week is just a couple of weeks away, but first, the Bengals must head to Arizona to face the Cardinals (1-3) in Week 5 in what feels like a must-win game.
