Bengals RB Joe Mixon suffered 'minor' ankle injury in win over Jaguars

For the second time in four weeks, the Cincinnati Bengals celebrated a dramatic walkoff victory, this time on Thursday night against the winless Jacksonville Jaguars. As Michael David Smith noted for Pro Football Talk, though, Cincinnati starting running back Joe Mixon was sidelined for the game's final drive, and head coach Zac Taylor explained the reason for Mixon's absence.

"I think it's a minor ankle injury, I believe," Taylor said of his RB1, per the Bengals' official website. "I would have to confirm, but he was moving around on it coming off the field. I had no idea what the diagnosis or timeline was."

Mixon led the now 3-1 Bengals in rushing Thursday night with 67 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. According to ESPN stats, he's been Cincinnati's only real true weapon out of the backfield with a team-high 353 rushing yards and the club's only two rushing scores of the season. To compare, Samaje Perine is second on the Bengals with a paltry 28 yards on nine attempts.

The good news for concerned Cincinnati fans everywhere is that the Bengals don't play again until they face the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 10, so Mixon has some extra time to get right ahead of Week 5.
