Bengals Star Joe Burrow Sadly Calls Off Expensive Purchase

Joe Burrow won't drive into the 2025 season with a purchase that went viral last year.

As revealed on HBO's Hard Knocks, Burrow told his Cincinnati Bengals teammates that he bought a limited-edition Batmobile replica. The fully functioning vehicle reportedly cost a whopping $2.99 million.

Unfortunately, fans learned from another documentary series that the splurge fell through.

Burglars broke into Burrow's home last December. As seen on Quarterback, which Netflix released Tuesday, the star quarterback said he decided against the Batmobile after the robbery.

"I didn't end up getting the Batmobile because I just had other things I wanted to deal with at that point," Burrow said, via USA Today's Jacob Camenker.

Burrow told Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo that the thieves mostly stole jewelry, which was insured. The 28-year-old wondered if he'd need to move now that everyone knew where he lived.

"I just get very uncomfortable," Burrow said on the show. "My life is very public. That comes with the job, but there's certain parts of your life that are yours. Your house is one of those."

Burrow was one of many athletes whose home was burglarized last year. A federal jury indicted three men linked to the break-in on federal charges.

"Not everybody's failures at their job are in front of the whole world," Burrow said. "It's a very vulnerable position to be in. I put myself in that position because I love it. I don't like the other part of it."

Burrow amassed a career-high 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns last season. The burglary occurred during a stretch in which he exceeded 250 yards and tossed at least three scores eight straight times.

Although Burrow led the Bengals to five consecutive wins (four after the break-in) to close the season, they missed the playoffs at 9-8. Burrow may not have a Batmobile, but he'll look to secure a Super Bowl ring this season.
