Joe Flacco found some rhythm, and Ja'Marr Chase did Ja'Marr Chase things, but the Cincinnati Bengals still fell to the Green Bay Packers for a fourth-straight loss.
Green Bay outlasted Cincinnati's second-half comeback attempt, 27-18, and with just four nights until a Thursday night clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bengals need all the help they can get.
Mid-game injuries to tight end Mike Gesicki and defensive end Trey Hendrickson will not help out with that.
Gesicki and Hendrickson were each ruled out of Sunday's game. Gesicki suffered a pectoral injury, and Trey Hendrickson exited with a back injury.
Gesicki suffered his injury early on in the second quarter and did not return. Hendrickson went into the locker room right before halftime and was deemed questionable to return. The club declared him out in the third quarter.
Hendrickson has been his usual productive self this year with a team-high four sacks, but Gesicki's production has withered without Joe Burrow. He has just eight receptions for 61 yards this year. Tanner Hudson played plenty of snaps after Gesicki left the game and even caught Flacco's first touchdown as a Bengal. Myles Murphy was Hendrickson's replacement.
Having two starters go down and leave the game with injuries is tough enough. Their chances of playing a game in a week's time would be in jeopardy. Being ready for a Thursday tilt is even tougher.
Hendrickson has not missed a game since the 2022 season. He's played through injuries before, but a back issue can linger and is tough to play through. Gesicki was ruled out quickly with his pectoral injury, so much more information is needed before any return timeline can be estimated.
Cincinnati will have an estimated practice report on Monday and will practice later in the week before hosting the Steelers. We'll learn more about Gesicki and Hendrickson's injuries then.
