Bengals WR apologizes to mom on Twitter for dropping passes

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins apologized to his mom on Twitter Sunday night following some apparent dropped passes during the team's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bengals were one of three teams to pull off epic comebacks in Week 15. They faced a 17-0 hole against the Bucs late in the first half, only to win 34-23. Higgins finished the game with only five receptions for 33 yards but had a receiving touchdown and two-point conversion catch as well.

As is often the case, the Clemson product was second on the team in targets during the contest — drawing eight looks from Joe Burrow — finishing only behind Ja'Marr Chase, who had seven catches for 60 yards and one touchdown on 13 targets. Burrow went 27-for-39 against Tampa Bay, meaning nine of his 12 incompletions were to his top two aerial weapons.

Barring injury, Higgins could set new career-highs in targets, receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns this year. He will enter Week 16 with 93, 65, 894 and six in those categories, respectively. Higgins' high marks in targets (110), receptions (74) and receiving yards (1,091) all came in his second season last year, while he has now hit exactly half a dozen touchdowns in each of his first three campaigns.

Higgins is one of the best second options in the NFL. The 23-year-old put up 18 receptions for 309 yards and two scores during the team's playoff run to Super Bowl LVI last season and was particularly clutch in the championship game against the Los Angeles Rams, posting four receptions for a game-high 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
