Bengals WR Urges Joe Burrow To Not Play In Week 3
Cara Owsley/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK

Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are in desperation mode entering their Week 3 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.

After entering the season with Super Bowl aspirations, the Bengals have slumped to an 0-2 start and face an essential must-win in what will be a rematch of Super Bowl LVI.

The problem is, Burrow is dealing with a calf issue, leaving his status for the showdown with Los Angeles up in the air.

Cincinnati wide receiver Tee Higgins is concerned about his signal-caller, saying that he does not think Burrow should play if he isn’t 100 percent, per Olivia Ray of WLWT.

“But you know, knowing him, you never know,” added Higgins.

Higgins has logged eight catches for 89 yards and a couple of touchdowns through the first two weeks of 2023. The 24-year-old is now in his fourth NFL season and is coming off of back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns.

Meanwhile, Burrow had labored thus far this season.

Through the first couple of games, the LSU product has thrown for 304 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while completing just 56.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 70.6.

This comes after two straight campaigns in which Burrow registered passer ratings of over 100. Last year, he made it to the Pro Bowl after totaling 4,475 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 picks while and completing 68.3 percent of his throws.

Cincinnati’s offense has struggled mightily, scoring a grand total of 27 points in the team’s two losses. The Bengals also rank last in the NFL in yards per game.

The good news for Cincy is that it also began last season 0-2 before ultimately winning 12 games and making it all the way to the AFC Championship Game, so the club has been in this situation before. However, that was with a healthy Joe Burrow.
