Best and worst NFL betting teams through six weeks

Betting trends are growing more and more reliable now that we are six games into the NFL season. We have some spread darlings and teams that continue to fly over or under the point total.

Apprise yourself of the market as you prep for Week 7.

Best teams: ATS

They've done it again, it's truly amazing what is happening down in Atlanta.

  1. Atlanta Falcons (6-0)
  2. New York Giants (5-1)
  3. Buffalo Bills (4-1-1)
  4. Houston Texans (3-1-1)
  5. Los Angeles Chargers (4-2)
  6. Philadelphia Eagles (4-2)
  7. Dallas Cowboys (4-2)
  8. New York Jets (4-2)
  9. Cincinnati Bengals (4-2)

Not only did the Falcons cover their +5 spread this weekend, they dominated the 49ers en route to a 28-14 win. Their rushing attack has been overpowering teams, and Marcus Mariota is playing some clean football. Atlanta has opened as +6 underdogs to Cincinnati, who is 4-2 ATS.

The Giants and Jets have been two of the most surprising teams in the NFL this season, 5-1 and 4-2 respectively, both ATS and overall. The market still hasn't bought in, both are underdogs once again on Sunday.

Worst teams: ATS

Carolina remains alone at the bottom, followed by a boatload of teams at 2-4 against the spread.

  1. Carolina Panthers (1-5)
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-4)
  3. Green Bay Packers (2-4)
  4. Cleveland Browns (2-4)
  5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4)
  6. Minnesota Vikings (2-4)
  7. Washington Commanders (2-4)
  8. Los Angeles Rams (2-4)
  9. New Orleans Saints (2-4)
  10. Kansas City Chiefs (2-4)
  11. Denver Broncos (2-4)

This list is packed with disappointing teams to begin the 2022 season, including the Packers, Buccaneers, Rams and Broncos. Many will continue to be listed as favorites due to reputation, but the results on the field haven't been pretty lately.

Best teams: Overs

  1. Cleveland Browns (5-1)
  2. Detroit Lions (4-1)
  3. Las Vegas Raiders (3-1-1)
  4. New Orleans Saints (4-2)
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2)

The Browns defense has been a major issue, causing them to go over in five of their first six games. The Lions and Raiders are back from byes as bettors hope their games continue piling up points.

Best teams: Unders

Seven teams are 5-1 to the under this year, if you're not considering betting on unders you need to start, it's where the profit has been.

  1. Cincinnati Bengals (5-1)
  2. Indianapolis Colts (5-1)
  3. Los Angeles Rams (5-1)
  4. San Francisco 49ers (5-1)
  5. Buffalo Bills (5-1)
  6. Denver Broncos (5-1)
  7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1)

The Bills defense has been an elite unit, but the presence of Josh Allen has consistently buoyed their totals. Last week the Bills-Chiefs game was the highest over/under of the week, but the total reached just 44 points.

Week 7 Games of Interest

New York Giants (+3) at Jacksonville Jaguars - The Giants head to Jacksonville as your standard three-point dogs, yet are 5-1 ATS to Jacksonville's 2-4 spread record. The Jaguars have been struggling lately, dropping three straight games.

New York Jets (+1.5) at Denver Broncos - The Broncos have looked dreadful on their way to a 2-4 ATS record, while the Jets have been riding high. The Denver defense is their calling card, giving the Jets a big test of the young offense that has been rolling the past month.
