Best TD prop targets for NFL Week 5: Data to help your parlays

More than half the touchdown targets we highlighted last week scored, including some big games from the Houston running backs, Rashaad Penny and Austin Ekeler. 

The approach here is a simple one: this is a resource. We've brought in the intriguing targets for touchdowns this weekend based on the numbers we track. The teams that draw these defenses are organized, and we explain why a defense is a target and who stands to benefit on Sunday.

Use this information however you see fit. Whether it's for DFS, touchdown parlays, or straight bets on someone to score, there is something here you can use for Week 5 in the NFL.

It's quite a list this week, so let's not waste any time. 


Tampa Bay Buccaneers WRs vs. Atlanta

Why they're here: The Falcons have allowed six touchdowns to wide receivers this season, tied for second-most in the league. Last year, Atlanta allowed 19 TDs to WRs, sixth-most.

Volume leaders:

  • Russell Gage: 25 targets, 2 red zone (RZ) looks
  • Mike Evans*: 21 targets, 4 RZ looks
  • Chris Godwin**: 13 targets, 2 RZ looks

*Evans was suspended for one game **Godwin missed two full games and the majority of Week 1


Miami Dolphins RBs vs. NY Jets

Why they're here: The Jets have allowed four touchdowns to running backs this year, tied for eighth-most. New York allowed the most scores to RBs last season with 23.

Volume leaders:

  • Chase Edmonds: 28 carries, 11 targets, 6 RZ looks

Jacksonville Jaguars RBs vs. Houston

Why they're here: Houston has allowed six touchdowns to running backs this season, second-most. Last year, the Texans allowed 18 RB scores, tied for third-most.

Volume leaders:

  • James Robinson: 59 carries, 7 targets, 14 RZ looks
  • Travis Etienne: 34 carries, 11 targets, 8 RZ looks

Cleveland Browns RBs/WRs vs. LA Chargers

Why they're here: The Chargers have allowed six touchdowns to wide receivers so far, tied for second-most in the league. They've also allowed five touchdowns to running backs, which is tied for third-most. In 2021, the Chargers allowed 19 touchdowns to running backs, tied for second-most.

  • Nick Chubb: 81 carries, 8 targets, 16 RZ looks
  • Kareem Hunt: 46 carries, 13 targets, 16 RZ looks
  • Amari Cooper: 31 targets, 4 RZ looks
  • Donovan Peoples-Jones: 24 targets, 3 RZ looks

New England Patriots RBs vs. Detroit

Why they're here: The Lions are allowing two touchdowns per game to running backs this season, the highest average in the NFL. Last year, Detroit was tied for third for the most touchdowns allowed to RBs.

Volume leaders:

  • Damien Harris: 53 carries, 9 targets, 12 RZ looks
  • Rhamondre Stevenson: 43 carries, 14 targets, 4 RZ looks

Detroit Lions TEs vs. New England

Why they're here: New England has allowed five touchdowns to tight ends this year, the most in the NFL. 

Volume leaders:

  • TJ Hockenson: 30 targets, 5 RZ looks

Tennessee Titans WRs vs. Washington

Why they're here: Washington has allowed seven touchdowns to wide receivers, the most in the NFL. Last year, the Commanders allowed 19 WR touchdowns, tied for sixth-most.

Volume leaders:

  • Robert Woods: 20 targets, 2 RZ looks
  • Treylon Burks: 16 targets, 1 RZ look
  • Kyle Phillips: 11 targets, 0 RZ looks

Washington Commanders WRs vs. Tennessee

Why they're here: The Titans have allowed six touchdowns to wide receivers, tied for second-most. The 20 touchdowns they allowed to the position last season was tied for fourth-most in the league.

Volume leaders:

  • Curtis Samuel: 37 targets, 5 RZ looks
  • Terry McLaurin: 27 targets, 4 RZ looks

New Orleans Saints TEs vs. Seattle

Why they're here: The Seahawks have allowed three touchdowns to TEs, tied for third-most to start the season. Last year, Seattle allowed nine touchdowns to tight ends, tied for fourth-most.

  • Adam Trautman: 4 targets, 1 RZ look

Philadelphia Eagles RBs vs. Arizona

Why they're here: The Cardinals have allowed over a touchdown per game to the RB position this season, tied for the third-highest average.

Volume leaders:

  • Miles Sanders: 72 carries, 9 targets, 11 RZ looks
  • Kenneth Gainwell: 15 carries, 8 targets, 8 RZ looks

Dallas Cowboys WRs vs. LA Rams

Why they're here: The Rams have allowed six touchdowns to WRs this season, tied for second-most. They've only allowed one touchdown combined to opposing RBs and TEs.

Volume leaders:

  • CeeDee Lamb: 42 targets, 2 RZ looks
  • Noah Brown: 27 targets, 6 RZ looks
  • Michael Gallup*: 3 targets, 1 RZ look

*Last week was Gallup's first since tearing his ACL last year.


Cincinnati Bengals WRs vs. Baltimore

Why they're here: Baltimore has allowed six touchdowns to WRs, tied for second-most. Last year the Ravens allowed the fourth-most TDs to wide receivers with 20.
